2019 Solomon Hills Chardonnay
Hand-harvested at night and whole-cluster pressed. This wine was then barrel fermented using native yeast and malolactic fermentations. Aging was sur lie for 16 months in French oak; 40% new. This wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Solomon Hills is defined by its sandy soils and proximity to the cold Pacific Ocean. Lemon peel and Bartlett pear are the immediate aromas in company with wet rock and sea breeze. The light and zesty front of the palate gives way to reveal pleasant richness and weight with a robust finish. Long sur lie aging means this wine will hit its peak in 5 to 10 years.
