This year’s Vin Gris, is grown from 100% Pinot Noir and made only for Rosé. No bleeding off of juice here, folks! This is exactly like what the yachties down in Provence would expect, with just a hint of Santa Maria Style. The bright aromas of strawberry and passion fruit in this Vin Gris of Pinot Noir bring a bright and fresh experience to the palate. Drink it soon, because we only made 100 cases. Only 85 are left after our team had their crack at it.
Hand harvested at night and whole cluster pressed. It was then barrel fermented with native yeast and malolactic fermentation.
Aging was sur lie for 18 months in French oak; 25% new. This wine was bottled unfiltered. Inviting aromas of meyer lemon, chamomile and cut straw burst out of the glass. The bright entry yields to a dense and energetic palate that is all straight lines and mouth watering minerality.
Vibrant aromatics of fennel, cinnamon, and blue fruits dominate the aromatics at the moment. These carry through to the
spicey fruits on the substantially masculine palate with integrated acidity, and great length.
When the sun goes down, and the fire pit gets lit, pop a few bottles of our Bien Nacido Estate Pinot Noir 2014, which were shipped in our most recent club pack, and was our highest scoring Estate Pinot in history. A crushing 95 points from Antonio Galloni! It’s easy to say he loved it, and we know you will too. Super fresh fruit of wild strawberries, crunchy bing cherry and the savory herbs that Bien Nacido Vineyard is known for.
Hand harvested at night, and fermented with native yeast and malolactic fermentations. Then aged for 18 months in French oak; 25% new. This wine was bottled unfiltered.
Dark aromatics of espresso, meat, and sage draw you in, but it’s the rich entry on the peppery and dense palate that’s a showcase of this vineyard. They complement the tightly wound but very long finish.
